R12 SP2 has a new HOOPS graphics engine which in many cases will require users to select a different graphics driver in TransMagic Settings.
Particularly if you open a file and get the progress bar, and then crash, please try the following solution:
Go to TransMagic Settings (the small gear in the upper left of the screen), click on Application > Performance > Rendering Options > Driver and select DX11 or DX9. Graphics cards built in the last few years will prefer DX11, and older cards will prefer DX9. We have also had success on some devices using OpenGL 2.
If changing the driver settings as discussed above does not resolve your issue, make sure you are using the latest driver for your video card. Do not rely on the auto updates from Microsoft, go directly to the video card manufacturer's website for the latest, up-to-date version.
