TransMagic uses Flexera licensing; Flexera licensing is cloud-based, and a single, permanent Activation ID can be used for all users.
Here are the instructions on how to get up and running on TransMagic R14 SP2. Note that the release date for SP2 is 7/31/2024.
1. Download R14 SP2: If you haven't already, download the latest version of R14 SP2. At the time of this writing, you can find both the latest version of R12 as well as R14 SP1 on this page. If you are a subscription customer, or a perpetual customer still under maintenance, you can download and install R14. If you are a perpetual customer with lapsed maintenance, please stay on R12 or contact an account rep about getting back on maintenance if you want to move to R14. If you try to install R14 SP2 and you are a perpetual customer out of maintenance, R14 SP2 will not run, and you'll have to uninstall R14 SP2 and go back to an earlier build of TransMagic.
Here is where you can download R14 SP2 from: https://transmagic.com/download
2. Copy your Activation ID: This next step is to uninstall your current TransMagic version. If you don't have your Activation ID ready, before uninstalling TransMagic, capture your Activation ID by going to:
C:\Users\Public\Documents\TransMagic\Licensing\FlexLicensing\TMFlexLicLog
Then open up the license log, and copy the Activation ID you find inside that file - here's what the line looks like:
INFO: User entered syntactically valid formatted License mode activation ID: (look here)
3. Uninstall TransMagic: Go to Control Panel and uninstall any versions of TransMagic currently installed. AVOID uninstall from Apps layout on win10 and win11.
4. Clean Uninstall Procedure: If you have any problems installing TransMagic R14 SP2, you may need to run a Clean Uninstall first; here are the steps:
A. Remove any TransMagic folders in C:\Users\Public\Documents.
B. Then edit the registry by opening up Regedit.exe (click the Windows Start button and type regedit). Go to Computer/HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ Software > Right-Click on the ‘TransMagic’ folder and select ‘Delete’. You will receive a ‘Confirm Key Delete’ prompt. Click ‘Yes’.
C. Go to C: >Program Files>TransMagic Inc and delete any folder inside. For Example: folder named “TransMagic R12 SP3” or “TransMagic R14 SP1”.
D. Reboot your machine.
5. Install TransMagic R14 SP2: Once the download is complete, the method of install depends on if you are a user with Administrative Rights, or a System Admin installing for one of your users. If you are a user with Administrative Rights, just double-click the exe and follow the installation instructions. If you have an earlier version of TransMagic installed, make sure that TransMagic is not running. If you are a System Administrator installing for one of your users, you must log in as the user, since TransMagic licenses are tied to each user; then right-click the exe and select Run As Administrator from the right-button menu (and enter your administrative info as necessary).
6. Start TransMagic: Start TransMagic and then select "Customer License Activation" and click "OK".
7. Enter your Activation ID: Copy and Paste your Activation ID in the Registration window.
NOTES:
Problems Connecting to Server: If you have problems connecting to the server, make sure your firewall has white-listed this URL: aws-transmagic.flexnetoperations.com . Also you need to whitelist this IP address: 185.146.155.79 . Flexera Cloud also requires port 443 to be open for license activation.
We also have the capability of providing offline activation IDs for standalone user licenses that must remain disconnected from the Internet. Let us know at license@transmagic.com, and we can send you instructions.
If, after trying the above steps, you are unable to install R14, please contact license@transmagic.com.
