Inventor files can be translated into SolidWorks 3D formats SLDASM and SLDPRT, which can be read and edited by SolidWorks. The result in SolidWorks is a solid, meaning you do not get a feature tree. You can use FeatureWorks (a feature recognition system, which all major CAD software has these days) to automatically recognize features and rebuild your feature tree. The success of feature recognition varies from part to part, with prismatic geometry being the most successful. TransMagic's Lite Repair and Full Repair functions will also increase the success rates of feature recognition in SolidWorks and other CAD systems as well.
